Sinai White Cement Co. was incorporated in 1999 and established a white cement plant in the Sinai Peninsula approximately 50 km from the city of Al Arish. Sinai White Cement entered in the market with its first bag of white cement in November 2001 when the plant started production with a capacity of 410,000 MT of clinker per year. In 2004 Cementir Holding, a major Italian cement producer became owner of Aalborg Portland Group and took over the management of Sinai White Cement purchasing 57% of company shares. Contracts for a second production line in Sinai White Cement were signed in November 2006. The new line started production in October 2008 as planned and Sinai White Cement became the main producer of white cement in Egypt and the world's largest plant for production of white cement.
By the end of 2009 Sinai White Cement has reached a yearly production capacity of 1.2 Million MT of high quality White Portland Cement. It is currently running at full utilization capacity and has a proud domestic market share of approx. 50% and exporting its high quality products in more than 28 countries around the world.
Today Cementir Holding has the 96.5% of Sinai White Cement.
